“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 (BSB)
Faith was never meant to be governed by feelings. Feelings fluctuate. Emotions rise and fall. Moods shift with circumstances. But faith stands on something far more stable—the unchanging Word of God. When Paul says we walk by faith and not by sight, he is teaching us to disconnect our faith from the emotional and sensory realm. Faith does not deny feelings; it simply refuses to be led by them. Feelings may be loud, but they are not to govern us. Faith thinking chooses Truth over emotion.
To “consider not: feelings” means you stop letting emotions dictate your expectation. You stop letting how you feel determine what you believe. You stop letting temporary emotional waves shape your spiritual posture. Feelings can inform you, but they cannot define you. Abraham did not feel strong. David did not feel fearless. Jesus did not feel comfortable in Gethsemane. But none of them allowed feelings to override obedience or faith. Faith thinking acknowledges emotion but refuses to bow to it. Faith says, “I am not moved by what I feel, but only what I believe, and I believe the Word of God!”
This Truth breaks the lie that your emotions are indicators of your spiritual condition. Many believers assume that if they don’t feel faith, they don’t have faith. They wait for emotional strength before they act on the Word. They wait for peace before they obey. They wait for confidence before they step out. But Scripture teaches the opposite: faith is a decision, not a feeling. The enemy wants you tangled in emotion so you never move in faith. He wants you to magnify how you feel so you minimize what God said. But God calls you to consider not—to refuse to let feelings have the final word.
Living this way produces stability and spiritual maturity. You stop being tossed around by emotional highs and lows. You stop letting discouragement derail your obedience. You stop letting fear silence your confession. When you consider not the feelings, you begin to live from Truth instead of reaction. You speak the Word even when you don’t feel it. You stand in faith even when emotions push back. You walk in obedience even when your feelings disagree. This is the maturity of faith—choosing Truth over emotion.
Today is about embracing the fact that feelings are real, but they do not have authority over you. The Truth carries authority over your feelings. The Word defines your steps. You walk by faith, not by sight—and not by feelings.
Confession: I consider not my feelings. I walk by faith, not emotion. God’s Word is Truth; it is my anchor and my guide.
Prayer: Father, help me rise above my feelings and stand firm in Your Word. Strengthen me to choose faith over emotion every time.
Closing Charge: Lead your day with faith—feelings may speak, but they do not decide.
