“But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.” Mark 5:36 (BSB)
Symptoms speak—but they do not speak Truth. In Mark 5:36, Jesus gives Jairus a command that cuts through fear‑based evidence: Do not be afraid; only believe. Jairus had just heard the worst possible news. The symptoms said it was over. The natural evidence said there was no hope. But Jesus told him to ignore the report, silence the fear, and refuse to let symptoms dictate his faith. This is the essence of faith thinking: consider not the symptoms. Faith does not deny symptoms—it denies them the authority to define the outcome.
To “consider not the symptoms” means you stop letting what your body feels, what your mind senses, or what your situation displays determine what you believe. Symptoms may be real, but they are not final. They may be loud, but they are not Lord. Jairus had a choice: believe the symptoms or believe Jesus. Faith thinking chooses the Word over the evidence, the promise over the pain, the Truth over the symptoms. Symptoms can inform you, but they cannot instruct your faith. Faith listens to Jesus, not to fear.
This Truth breaks the lie that symptoms are proof of defeat. Many believers panic when symptoms appear. They assume that if they feel something, it must be true. They let symptoms dictate their confession, shape their expectation, and weaken their faith. But Jesus declares that symptoms are not the final authority—His Word is. The enemy wants you fixated on symptoms so you will abandon your faith. He wants you staring at the evidence so you forget the promise. But God calls you to consider not—to refuse to let symptoms have the final word.
Living this way produces confidence and stability. You stop being shaken by every physical sensation or emotional fluctuation. You stop letting temporary symptoms override eternal Truth. You stop allowing fear‑based evidence to shape your faith. When you consider not the symptoms, you begin to live like Jairus—focused on Jesus, anchored in His Word, unmoved by what you see or feel. You walk in a faith that is steady, mature, and unshakable. Symptoms may come, but they cannot control you.
Today is about embracing the Truth that symptoms are not your source of truth—God’s Word is. You can acknowledge what you feel without surrendering to it. You can see the symptoms without being defined by them. You can consider not—and believe anyway.
Confession: I consider not the symptoms. I refuse fear‑based evidence and choose to believe the Word above what I see or feel.
Prayer: Father, strengthen me to stand firm when symptoms speak. Help me fix my eyes on Jesus and stand firm in Your Word.
Closing Charge: Do not fear—only believe. Symptoms speak, but they do not decide.
