“So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:11 (BSB)
Provision is not a reward—it is the expression of a Father’s heart. Jesus uses the most relatable picture possible in Matthew 7:11: even flawed, imperfect parents know how to give good gifts to their children. They don’t make their children earn food, beg for care, or prove their worth before meeting their needs. They give because they love. And then Jesus makes the comparison unmistakable: “How much more” will your Father in Heaven give good things to His children. If earthly parents provide out of limited love, how much more does your perfect Father provide out of limitless love.
To say God takes care of His children means you stop approaching Him like a servant trying to earn wages. You approach Him as a child receiving from a Father who delights in giving. You stop wondering if He wants to provide and start believing He already has. You stop fearing lack because you know your Father is attentive, generous, and committed to your wellbeing. Provision is not something you must convince God to release—it is something He eagerly gives. His heart is not reluctant. His hands are not closed. His nature is not stingy. He is a Father, and fathers provide.
This Truth breaks the lie that God withholds to teach lessons or tests your loyalty by creating lack. Jesus dismantles that thinking. If earthly parents—who are imperfect—would never intentionally harm their children, how much more can you trust your heavenly Father? The enemy wants you to question God’s heart so you will hesitate to receive. But Jesus reveals the Truth: God is better than you think, kinder than you imagine, and more generous than you expect. Provision flows from His heart long before it reaches your hands.
Living this way produces rest and confidence. You stop praying from fear and start praying from trust. You stop approaching God with anxiety and start approaching Him with assurance. You stop expecting struggle and start expecting supply. When you know God takes care of His children, you stop carrying burdens He never asked you to carry. You stop worrying about tomorrow because you know your Father is already in tomorrow, preparing what you will need.
Today is about embracing the Truth that you are not an orphan trying to survive—you are a child of God, fully cared for, fully supplied, and fully loved.
Confession: My Father takes care of me. He gives good things, meets my needs, and delights in providing for me.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your generous heart. Help me trust Your care and receive from You with confidence and peace.
Closing Charge: Rest in your Father’s care today—His heart is your guarantee of provision.
