You Are Seated, Not Striving

“But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time, He waits for His enemies to be made a footstool for His feet, because by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified.” Hebrews 10:12–14 (BSB)

Jesus sat down because His work was finished. There was nothing left to earn, nothing left to prove, nothing left to fight for. His seating is the eternal declaration that redemption is complete, victory is secured, and the enemy is defeated. But this passage also reveals something profound about you: the One who sat down perfected you forever by His offering. If He is seated, and you are in Him, then your posture is meant to be the same. You are not called to strive your way into authority. You are called to sit in the authority Christ has already secured.

To be seated with Christ means you operate from rest, not from pressure. Rest is not inactivity; it is confidence. It is the settled assurance that the work is finished and the victory is won. Striving comes from believing something is still incomplete—something you must fix, earn, or accomplish. But authority flows from knowing everything necessary has already been accomplished in Christ. You do not fight for acceptance; you rest in righteousness. You do not fight for victory; you enforce the victory Jesus won. You do not fight to get God to move; you rest in what God has already done.

This Truth breaks the lie that spiritual authority requires intensity, effort, or spiritual performance. Many believers exhaust themselves trying to “feel” powerful, “prove” their faith, or “fight” their way into breakthrough. But authority is not the result of spiritual sweat. It is the result of spiritual seating. The enemy wants you striving because striving keeps you focused on yourself. Rest keeps you focused on Christ. Striving keeps you in the realm of effort. Rest keeps you in the realm of grace. Striving keeps you fighting battles Jesus already won. Rest positions you to enforce those victories with clarity and confidence.

Living this way produces stability and boldness. You stop approaching God as someone trying to earn His approval and start approaching Him as someone seated in His Presence. You stop reacting to the enemy with panic and start responding with authority. You stop praying from desperation and start praying from dominion. Rest becomes the atmosphere in which your authority operates. When your heart is at rest, your words carry weight. When your spirit is settled, your commands carry authority.

Today is about embracing the Truth that you are seated, not striving. Your authority flows from Christ’s finished work, not your ongoing effort.

Father, thank You for perfecting me through Christ’s offering. Teach me to live from rest and exercise authority from my seated position.
