You Have Authority Over All the Power of the Enemy

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19 (BSB)

Jesus did not give you partial authority, limited authority, or conditional authority. He gave you authority over all the power of the enemy. Luke 10:19 is not a metaphor. It is a legal decree from the risen Christ. When Jesus said, “I have given you authority,” He was announcing a transfer of dominion. He was declaring that the believer is not under attack, under pressure, or under the enemy’s reach. You are over him—positionally, legally, and spiritually. The enemy may have power, but you have authority over him. A police officer does not need more strength than a speeding car to stop it; he only needs the authority of the badge. In the same way, you do not overcome darkness by force—you overcome it by authority.

To tread on snakes and scorpions means you have the right to trample, override, and dismantle every work of darkness. You are not called to negotiate with the enemy. You are not called to tolerate his pressure. You are not called to endure his attacks. You are called to tread—decisively, confidently, and consistently. Jesus did not say you would have authority someday. He said you have it now. He did not say you have authority over some of the enemy’s power. He said you have authority over all of it. Nothing the enemy does is beyond your jurisdiction.

This Truth breaks the lie that the enemy is strong, close, or capable of overrunning your life. Fear thrives where authority is forgotten. Confidence rises where authority is understood. The enemy’s only strategy is deception—convincing believers that they are powerless, vulnerable, or unqualified. But Jesus settled the matter: you have authority. Not because you earned it. Not because you feel it. Not because you are spiritually elite. You have authority because Jesus gave it to you, and His Word is final.

Living this way produces boldness and stability. You stop reacting to the enemy and start resisting him. You stop fearing his attacks and start enforcing his defeat. You stop praying from desperation and start commanding from dominion. You speak with clarity because you know Heaven backs your words. You stand firm because you know nothing can harm you—not because life is easy, but because Jesus is Lord.

Today is about embracing the Truth that you have authority over all the power of the enemy. You are not beneath darkness. You are above it. You are not threatened by the enemy. You tread on him.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me authority over the enemy in Jesus’ Name. Teach me to walk boldly, confidently, and consistently in what Jesus has given me.
